2021 International Workshop on Industry 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing
In 2020, an international consortium led by Edinburgh Napier University (ENU), joining by Dongguan University of Technology(DGUT), Guangxi University of Science and Technology(GXUST), National University of Laos (NUoL), University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Corvinus University of Budapest (CUoB), Ha Noi University of Industry (HUoI), Chiang Mai University (CMU) and Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), successfully won the British Council UK-China-BRI Countries Partnership Initiative (https://www.britishcouncil.cn/en/programmes/education/partnership-fund) funding award from 2020 to 2025. The partnership also received a match-fund from Ministry of Education, China.
The project aims to utilise the seed fund from British Council to develop an international research and education network to 1) form a virtual research centre on AI and Robotic for Industry 4.0; 2) conducting a thorough evaluation of the current research capability of the higher education sector in UK, China, ASEAN and Eastern European countries on the Industry 4.0 related studies; 3) develop a generic programme design guideline and template for Industry 4.0 oriented international collaborative programmes.
2021 International Workshop on Industry 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing is one the online research orientated workshops hosted and funded by DGUT, and co-organised by the project partner universities.

In view of recent developments in the COVID-19 epidemic, the organizing committee has decided to reduce the size of the live meeting and partly conduct it as a virtual meeting.
Industry 4.0 refers to the fourth industrial revolution or revolutionary production method dominated by intelligent manufacturing. The strategy aims to transform manufacturing to intelligence by making full use of information and communication technology and the combination of virtual system in cyberspace.
Industry 4.0 is the technological transformation and transformation of an industry. The intelligent manufacturing proposed by Industry 4.0 is oriented to the whole life cycle of products and realizes the information manufacturing under the condition of ubiquitous perception. On the basis of modern sensing technology, network technology, automation technology and artificial intelligence, through perception, human-computer interaction, decision-making, implementation and feedback, the product design process, manufacturing process and enterprise management and service intelligence, is the deep integration of information technology and manufacturing technology.
---Essence: It is based on "CPS" to achieve "intelligent co-factory".
---Core:It is the production mode of dynamic configuration to achieve "flexible production".
---Key: It is information technology application realizes productive force to develop at full speed.
The 1st International Conference on Industry 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing (IWIIM2021) will be held on September 9, 2021 in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. The conference was supported by China Education Association for International Exchange and British Council. The organizers are Dongguan University Of Technology and Edinburgh Napier University. Dongguan University Of Technology is a financial and technical sponsor.
At the same time, the conference has also been assisted by the National University of Laos, Chiang Mai University of Thailand, Ha Noi University of Technology of Vietnam, Covenus University of Budapest,University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Guangxi University of Science and Technology.
